The travel section concentrates mostly on Europe, particularly central and eastern Europe, with an emphasis on backpacking and hostelling. For those looking for a hostel, on-line searching and secure booking are provided in the backpacking part of the travel links. We also have two sources of exchange rate information.

If you want information about a particular country, look in two places: under the country’s name (do a text search), and also in the big backpacking sites that we list in their own category under ‘backpacking & hostelling’. Many of these sites have sections devoted to individual countries.

book search

The top box searches the entire book catalogue at Amazon: type the search text from either the title or the author’s name or both, then click the search button.

The middle box allows you to browse Amazon books by subject, using the drop-down menu.

The ‘rare & antiquarian’ link serves up an ABE Books search box in a pop-up. ABE is a huge global network of secondhand book dealers, which you can search as a whole or by country.
